About Luton Airport
Located in Bedfordshire, around two miles off the M1 at junction 10, London Luton operates a single terminal and mostly serves low-cost and holiday airlines. Central London is about 32 miles away.
Off-peak, plan on roughly an hour by road to the centre; in rush hour it is usually an hour and a half, sometimes more. A chauffeur suits those going on to Milton Keynes, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire or north and west London, families with bags, and anyone landing late.
Journeys from Luton commonly go to central or north London, Bedford, Milton Keynes, St Albans and other Hertfordshire towns.

Getting from LTN to London
From junction 10, your chauffeur joins the M1 southbound and continues into north or west London, depending on your address. Peak traffic and overnight roadworks on the M1 can both slow things down, so journey times are not fixed.
Operating around the clock, the Luton DART shuttle links Luton Airport Parkway station with the terminal in about four minutes. At Parkway, East Midlands Railway's Luton Airport Express goes non-stop to St Pancras as often as twice an hour. Thameslink offers as many as eight trains an hour, through the night as well, to St Pancras and Farringdon, and on to City Thameslink, Blackfriars and London Bridge. London coaches leave from the airport too.
Rail is a good fit if you have little luggage and are staying near a Thameslink stop. If you have young children or plenty of luggage, are travelling as a group, or would rather not move cases from the DART onto a train, a car is the easier way.
Arrival tips
- With only one terminal, you simply leave baggage reclaim and find your chauffeur in the arrivals hall holding a name board.
- Passport queues at Luton can lengthen when a number of flights arrive at once. We track your flight, and your 60 minutes of free waiting runs from the real landing time.
- In your confirmation you will find the meeting point plus your chauffeur's name and phone number, so you can ring if your luggage is delayed.
- Nothing is payable at the airport: airport parking charges are part of your fare.
- Child seats are supplied at no charge; just ask for them when booking.
LTN transfer questions
Is there more than one terminal at Luton?
No. Every airline, from easyJet and Wizz Air to Ryanair and Jet2, operates from the same passenger terminal.
How long will the drive into central London take?
It is roughly 32 miles along the M1. Outside peak hours allow about an hour; in busy periods, allow an hour and a half or longer.
How do I find my chauffeur at Luton?
After baggage reclaim, go into the arrivals hall and look for your name on a board. Your confirmation includes the meeting point and the chauffeur's contact details.
What if my Luton flight lands late?
Your flight is tracked and the chauffeur works to the time you actually arrive, with 60 minutes of free waiting starting once the aircraft lands.
With a private car, do I still need the DART?
No. The DART runs between the terminal and the railway station, which you will not need: your chauffeur walks with you from arrivals to the car.
