Early Morning Flights

Early flights are often the cheapest and the most stressful. There are no trains at some of the hours you need, and a taxi rank may be empty. A pre-booked car takes that worry away: the driver is at your door at the time you chose.

When to book the pickup

Work backwards from your flight: the airline’s recommended check-in time, then the drive, then a margin. As a guide, aim to be at the terminal about two hours before a short-haul flight and three before a long-haul flight. Roads are quieter very early in the morning, but leave a margin anyway for roadworks and night-time closures.

The night before

  • Book or confirm the pickup the day before at the latest, with your terminal.
  • Put a phone number in the booking that you will have switched on in the morning.
  • For a hotel, tell reception about your early departure; for a building with a concierge, add access notes for the driver.

Which airport?

The drive depends on where you are staying – see which London airport is closest. Fares from Mayfair, for example:

Route Sedan (4 seats) First Class Sedan (4 seats) Van (6 seats)
Mayfair – Heathrow (26 km) £63 £104 £93
Mayfair – Gatwick (89 km) £147 £213 £218
Mayfair – Stansted (66 km) £115 £172 £171
Mayfair – Luton (53 km) £98 £150 £146
Mayfair – London City (16 km) £49 £86 £72
